What models do you offer? What's the difference?
We currently offer two great mufflers:
The Paradox "Signature Series", which offers aggressive, high quality sound with revolutionary, patented drone-controlling technology.
Paradox Signature Series Performance Mufflers are great for...
- Modern and classic trucks and cars.
- Pro Street (less than 600 HP).
- Most V8s, V6s, V10s, and 4 cylinder engines.
- A somewhat less loud but just as throaty sounding alternative to Paradox Hot Tamales.
The Paradox "Hot Tamale", which has an even louder (but still refined) sound. The tone quality is similar to the Paradox Signature Series, but somewhat less smooth and somewhat more sharp. This makes it well suited to V8s, and is well suited to being paired with resonators.
Paradox Hot Tamales are great for...
- Stock V8 trucks.
- Modern V8 muscle cars.
- Race and off road.
- Mild vehicles that need a big sound boost.
- Vehicles that aren't loud enough with other performance mufflers.
- Naturally quiet vehicles (such as vehicles with many quiet catalytic converters, e.g. late 90s and 2000s F150s).
- Any situation where you want the loudness a straight pipe, but want higher sound quality than a straight pipe.
What size do I need?
If you're in doubt about what size muffler you need for your vehicle, please feel free to contact our exhaust experts.
In general, we recommend 3.00" for almost all 1/2 ton trucks of any engine (eg. RAM 1500, Ford F150, Titan, etc).
Most V8 cars from the past couple decades use 2.50".
Most 6-cylinder cars are 2.25". Some high performance turbo 6 cylinder cars use 2.50".
4 cylinder cars are typically 2.25" but sometimes smaller.
Will Paradox Performance Mufflers Work On My Vehicle?
Our universal mufflers fit virtually any vehicle with 3.00" diameter pipe or smaller if installed by a professional muffler shop or fabricator.
We designed our mufflers to perform excellently on:
- Most stock/unmodified vehicles of all engine types.
- Most modified V8s up to 600 horsepower.
Without additional sound control, our current models may not be enough for:
- Engines producing 600+ horsepower.
- Supercharged vehicles.
- Heavily tuned/modified 4 and 6 cylinders.
This does not mean they will not work; it simply means you may also need resonators or other means of controlling volume. Headers, aftermarket catalytic converters, tuning, and more can complicate the ability to predict sound.

Can your muffler necks be clamped/welded?
We recommend welding the inlets/outlets. Because of our ultra-thick and ultra heavy duty inlets/outlets, traditional U-bolt exhaust clamps will NOT work.
How to clamp if welding is not an option:
Our mufflers can be clamped with wide "band" (AKA "lap joint") exhaust clamps IF they are installed in a very specific way. The clamps must be at least 3 inches wide. Narrower clamps will not work. You must apply liberal amounts of muffler cement (available at parts stores) inside the inlet and outlet. In addition, you must either put a tack weld on top of the outside of the inlet and outlet before you put the clamp on, OR screw a small screw on top of the inlet and another on the outlet. Doing either of those things will give the clamps something to grip on to so they do not move and loosen.
Are Paradox Performance Mufflers Directional?
Yes. Each muffler has an inlet marking. There is also an etching on the case indicating the flow direction ("FLOW >>>")
How loud/quiet are Paradox Performance Mufflers?
Our Signature Series mufflers are moderately loud, and our Hot Tamale mufflers are extra loud. But keep in mind that mufflers are not the only thing that contributes to sound. Resonators, catalytic converters, headers, engine mods, and more contribute to overall volume and tone quality. Please see the chart below:

Switching over to 3 inch over the 2.5 inch cherry bomb extreme, I noticed that the cold start is very smooth and just as loud as a cherry bomb extreme without any of that metallic cheap noise that the cherry bomb produces, the Paradox Hot Tamale is a very well made and designed to be as near as loud as a straight pipe with a excellent tone control, this muffler is perfect when it comes to inside cabin drone, it produces way less cabin drone than any other Flowmaster super 10 or cherry bomb extreme while being just as loud.

Just had the Paradox Hot Tamale Performance Muffler installed on my new 2024 Chevy Z71 5.3 Trail Boss yesterday and I love the sound. With the Range Technology installed in my Chevy Z71 it stays in V8 mode all the time it sounds like a truck should sound like. I really like the sound that I'm getting from my mufflers.

So just want to say this is an awesome muffler! I have been very pleased with these cold starts and highway rumbles even the kids say daddy do the noise do the noise lol.. however I have noticed my truck won’t run into overdrive AS easy like it did with the factory one. So unfortunately that just takes a hit on the mpg side of things and leaves it in a high pitch noise noticing it wants to shift but wont, (between 60-65) bump up the speed to 70ish and it shifts and goes into 8th gear. Only thing I can gather is it’s obviously less restrictive lol. Just something to keep in mind. I drive a 19 hemi classic. Knowing what I know now I would still buy again, solid price for what you are getting!

My 18-year-old son just purchased a brand-new Ram 1500 classic. He was in the market for an aggressive sounding muffler. He looked at all the top names that market their product, which in turn cost the consumer a lot more money. I found paradox mufflers on Facebook. Through hours of listening to sound bites, my son decided to purchase a Hot Tamale muffler. He had it installed the other day, ended up loving the aggressive sound. I got home from work and listened to it, I too have a brand new ram, 1500 Laramie edition. Both trucks have the hemi 5.7, I ordered my muffler over the weekend. I had a Paradox 3" pipe Hot Tamale (very high quality) installed on my 2002 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 5.3L / 4l60e (not a hotrod by any means) and I am very pleased with it. The tone is very mellow from idle to 2000 rpm normal driving then up to rpm limiter it starts singing that tune everyone loves to hear in a performance vehicle and in the interior it has no annoying rumbling, groaning, or vibrating noises. If you are in the market for a quality muffler at a very reasonable price, this is the one. Thanks guys for all the research you put in this high quality performance muffler... HOME RUN! Now if I can just keep my foot out of it I'll see if mpg is changed.

Just installed the Hot Tamales on my 2019 Camaro RS/ V6. I bought them because of the clearance issues other mufflers presented for my car ( 19 in length is the absolute max for the camaro). The Hot Tamales are a game changer, it has a nice deep tone, virtually no drone, the sound is noticeable but not obnoxious. These mufflers have made my car more of a blast to drive. This how it should have sound from factory. Unde light throttle it sounds a little JDM-ish, but full throttle sounds very exotic.
